Community Colleges

More and more Americans are enrolling in college for the first time or returning to school to gain additional skills in new and emerging industries. As this trend continues, community colleges are playing an increasingly important role in education and training America’s workforce.

In an effort to achieve the goal of graduating 5 million more career-ready Americans from community colleges by 2020, Congressman Tierney strongly supported the creation of a new Community College Challenge Grant Program included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This new program will not only assist community colleges with improving instruction and support services for students, but will also work with local employers and implement other innovative reforms to aid students in receiving the necessary degrees and training to fulfill local workforce needs.
