When Congress prepared to pass an economic stimulus bill during this country's worst recession, John made sure there were funds for our communities’ much needed investments in crumbling clean water plants, downtowns suffering from flooding, transportation projects, money-saving energy efficiency and alternatives projects, and job training efforts to get our people back to decent paying jobs while also ensuring that our cities and towns had funds with which to keep our schools, fire and police stations open and our teachers, firefighters and police on the job.
